Love of Mine, 2009
This exhibition of new paintings by David Band titled Same Difference at Australian Galleries is dedicated to John Martyn who died earlier this year. In the accompanying exhibition catalogue Band writes:
“On January 29th 2009, Scotland lost its greatest singer/songwriter – John Martyn. The honesty and pain that penetrated his work will be hard to surpass. John Martyn’s lyrics have been a constant source of inspiration and have titled many of my paintings.”
Same Difference comprises three images; the head, bottles and abstract florals which Band has depicted in various colourways in reference to the songlines.
