Band’s paintings contrast darkness with colour. In a series of monochromatic painting, Band strips the canvas almost bare. The skin is exposed and raw but the light areas seduce the eye like a Rorschach test. Other paintings are fields of black, dragged, dripped and splashed across the canvas. They dare you to like them, to find something of yourself in them.
